BET award show was AWESOME!!!

Hey guys and gals. The BET award show was awesome. It was a Blast. I got to meet a lot of cool people and I got to walk the Red Carpet. I accidently bumped in to Flava Flav while they were taking picture of him and Delicious. Good thing he didn't start throwing punches at me. lol

The after Party was really cool, free food free drinks :). Today I relaxed and got lots of emails done. Tomorrow will be a busy day.

Hey guys, starting today I've decided to make sure I blog every day. Even if I just say hi. lol

Anyways, today is going to be awesome because I got four tickets to the BET Music Award. The even is invite only and not open to the general public. I got my four from the president of BET. It makes me feel really special :). Also I got VIP passes to the after party. Lots of cool and famous people will be there.

My only problem is cameras our not allowed. That sucks big time. I think I might have to use my camera phone. Anyways I am finishing up my work and heading out at 3:PM. I'll let you guys know how it went on Monday if I am able to wake up from all the partying tonight.

It is almost 4:AM

Hi guys how are you all? It is almost 4:AM in the morning and I find myself working to make sure I am not behind on my work. I don't want my boss (my older bro Ernst) chewing me out. lol

Right now I am leasining to "Ave Maria" by Beethovan. It is very relaxing. If you've never heard it before I highly recomand you find a way to listen to if ;)

Well today I got a ton of emails done. I received copies of Magician 3 in the mail. Boy does that book look great. I haven't read it yet but I am looking forward to. Anyways that's about it for today. I'll write again tomorrow. Later.

Marvel News -- Article Links and Threadspotting

It's been almost 24 hours since the news broke, and we're already being talked about all over the place.

The first few articles went up last night:

-Cliff Biggers of Comic Shop News broke the news first and wrote the official article for Newsarama. Cliff is Les Dabel's local retailer, so we gave him the scoop!
-Wizard Entertainment was next, offering this very cool piece. Wizard's onsite reporter asked us for a copy of the video we took of the announcement because the announcement was generating so many hits.
-Comic Book Resources followed soon after, posting a great interview with Marvel Publisher Dan Buckley. CBR's gossip column, Lying in the Gutters, was onto us, though Derek Ruiz said that Rich asked him over the weekend if our deal was, in fact, with DC rather than Marvel.
-Our own forums lit up on this thread, which is still going strong. If you have questions, please ask them there!

Today's articles have been pretty cool too.

-Joe Quesada really talked us up in part 2 of his "Joe Monday" column on Newsarama.
-Wizard Entertainment ran a great piece on Anita Blake today.
-And last, but not least, we're also mentioned on Marvel's Webpage, which should serve as proof to anyone who's still in shcok or disbelief!

Our apologies for the lack of posts lately -- we've been a little preoccupied. In case you haven't heard, we're part of the Marvel Comics family now, and we made it public in an announcement at the Diamond Retailer's Summit on Monday, Sept. 11, 2006. You can read the full story here.

Hi all,

I had to wake up very early today so I could get my post in on the blog. It's been a while since I posted so I was really looking forward to it. We at Dabel Brothers have accomplished so much within the last 3 months, I mean LOTS and LOTS. Once we start putting out press releases of what we are doing and what we will be doing I think a lot of people in the industry will be shocked!!! I swear, we don't sleep. lol

I got to spend some quality time with Sean and Stacie Jordan and Matt Hansen at Book Expo America in Washing DC. I have to admit, I have some of the coolest people working with me. Hanging out with DB guys always feels like hanging out with Family. Over all Book Expo was a major success for us and I can't wait to do it again next year. We also got to spend some time with Sherrilyn kenyon/ kinley Mcgregor and her agent. sherrilyn is going to be lots of fun to work with I can tell.

Well I have to head out. Next weekend I will be at Wizard World Philly Booth 422, feel free to stop by. Currently I am listening to The Lord of the Rings sounds track. Later!

So It's funny, its been forever since I've had time to post...it seems all we do is work here at DBPro...So much so we try and find more work for us to do, But I figure if we keep you guys happy it was all worth it.

Here are some quick news bits to get you through the time it takes Les to post again (We tricked him into coming on here to post and now he is addicted to the blog).

Post Office Day

Tuesdays are usually the day I use to go to the post office or Fed-Ex. So I will be heading there today after Ernst, David and I come from the YMCA. We've been going to the Y on Tuesday and Thursday mornings to play basketball. The 3 of us will pickup 2 guys to play on our team. For those of you that do not know much about basketball; you need at least 5 players per team. As of right now my brothers and I are on a 14 game winning streak. That's cause no one can stop David. We'll see if we can build on that, our goal is to win 25 games.

Also on my agenda today, I will be contacting Trent Zelazny, Trent is the son of Roger Zelazny. We'll be discussing an up and coming project that will be announced shortly. I want to also encourage you all to call your local comic retailer and reserve a few copies of Laurell K. Hamilton's "Anita Blake'. It's going to be a hot item.

Start of a new week!

Hi All,

Last week was a great week for us, we got a lot accomplished. This week, I feel is going to be an excellent week for us. One of my younger brothers; I won't say who yet is working on a novel and we have one of the top literary agents checking it out. If his novel is picked up he will have major bragging rights in school.

I was suppose to start work on my project last week but did not have enough time. I am going to work an illustrated Children’s book. It will be like “Red Wall” sort of but very different at the same time. My brother David will be helping me out on it and we have several different artists working on it as well. I think that's all but once again I feel really positive about this week so if anything major happens I will let you all know.

Currently I am listening to "The Lord of The Rings" Soundtrack. And by the way Magician_01 and Marshal_01 will be out in stores this Wednesday.

Ok, I spent all day today thinking about posting on the Blog can I say addiction??? I woke up at 5:am this morning but didn’t have a chance at all until now. I accomplished a lot today. I did about 3 contracts one of them for an other well known female New York Times Best Selling author. I can’t say who she is yet but she will turn some heads.

I got copies of Marshal and Magician number 1 today in the mail. I read them and loved them both. I recommend anyone who loves a good read to check them out. I am currently listening to Gorillaz, Feel Good Inc. for anyone who is curious. I am about to grab a bite to eat catch ya’ll later.

This is my very first Blog posting so I hope I get it right. By the way everyone this is Les Dabel. I am the second Dabel Brother, I am the one that hardly ever gets to sleep. Any ways on to my Blogging.

Today is going to be a great day, why you ask? Well cause every day we wake from our beds with the breath of life in us still we are lucky and fortunate. So that's a great start to what will be a great day.

I have a very busy schedule today. I need to get several contracts out. One of them being for our second project with one of my favorite authors of all time; R. A. Salvatore. We are doing 2 projects for him, trust me they are going to be great :)

I will also be looking over some of our scheduling with Mrs. Stacie Jordan to make sure we are up to date on everything. Ok I have to get some work done I have 155 emails to go through. I will post more later. Thanks.

Sean and I thought this was very cool... (from a review on Paperbackreader.com):

"It was with some reluctance that I began to read The Burning Man portion of the graphic novel, but by the first couple of pages, I could see that things were different. The Dabel Brothers team, led by Sean Jordan (adaptation) and Brett Booth (primary artist) deconstructed this story and rebuilt it from the ground up. From the rambling narrative, they found the intrigue, passion, and mystery in the story Tad Williams had written. Everything is visualized – from careless asides of innuendo to the rugged lust between the protagonist and her lover.

There is a vibrancy that positively throbs throughout the work. Jordan does a superb job of parsing the text of the story in a way that accentuates the angst of the main character and the art team compliments that with stirring images that run the vista from lush forests of green, beds of red silk, and dark dungeons of deep grays and deepest blacks. Like The Wood Boy, the story is told in flashback, but there is a sense of forward momentum and mystery in The Burning Man that compels the reader forward - an urgency not present in the Feist narrative. The graphic novel succeeds, I suppose, in taking the rough in the diamond and transforming it to a diamond in the rough. "

Odd Observations

So I was reading comic news on www.Newsarama.com when I came upon an article on which had the upcoming Spider-man cover for the CivilWar Crossover...boy was I shocked by the cover design Marvel has going on....looks kind of familiar to me :)..... Funny how Marvels cover design came out almost two months after we first showed ours...Not saying they copied but hey I guess greatness is meant to be copied heh.

The DBPro Blog is ready to start rolling! After a couple of delays due to us making sure our launch in March would run smoothly we have finally made the Blog the newest arm to our mighty DBPro website (Dabelbrothers.com as if you didn't know.)

First things first we need to thank our creative director Bill Tortolini for setting this up and giving me (Derek Ruiz) the powers to post about all the exciting things coming your way from DBPro.

Secondly the four Dabel Brothers for their wonderful vision and determination to get this ship sailing. Also I can't forget my fellow DBPro staff who keep the ship sailing (Yes, I mean Sean, Matt, Ninjai, Lance, and the DBPro Mod staff).

Finally I have to thank you guys for making this stuff possible and letting us bring entertainment to you...You guys are not ready for all the wonderful things we have coming your way...To be honest I don't think I'm ready :).

This first couple of weeks we will be running with previews interviews and what not on the books we have coming out in March and April. Most of what you see here will be blog exclusive images, interviews and info...so make sure you check back often.

Well with out further interruption I give you the DBPro BLOG.
